NEUTRA is a performance project that explores the body before identity — a body not yet fully shaped by social codes, gendered expectations, or systems of value. Inspired by the liminal space between childhood and adolescence, the work investigates a state where imagination precedes social definition. Through movement, rhythm, transformation, and intense physicality, the performer embodies a creature still capable of becoming everything and nothing at once. The project explores memories of childhood play, wild imagination, and threshold experiences, using them as a lens through which to examine how identities are constructed, imposed, resisted, and transformed. The work is also informed by my experience as a queer artist. NEUTRA investigates how bodies are read, categorized, and disciplined by social norms, while celebrating multiplicity, fluidity, and the possibility of existing beyond fixed definitions of self. Rather than approaching childhood as nostalgia, the project treats it as a radical space of openness where identity remains unstable, porous, and full of possibility.
